An Iowa food processing company distributed by Fareway Stores in the Midwest has left two hundred and sixty five people ill and one dead from salmonella contamination across eight states in the United States the U.S. Centers for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed.

CDC confirmed in an update post that the outbreak that seem to have started around 8th January to 20th March appears to have ended. Sufferers range from less than one year to eighty-nine years with sixty-seven percent being female.

Seattle food safety attorney Bill Marler said:
"There's a woman in Nebraska who was in ICU for a week and a gentleman in Iowa who has lost his large intestine. He's now facing another surgery in a month or two to try to reconnect that. So there are obviously some pretty significantly sick people."
Out of the two hundred and sixty-five cases, ninety-four people were hospitalized, a high number for such an outbreak Marler added.

Triple T Specialty Meats spokesman Dave Dutton said:
"We're still receiving information and we want to make sure we have all that information before we make any public comments."
He said the company isn't commenting.

Fareway CEO Reynolds Cramer said:
"On behalf of everyone at Fareway, our sympathy goes out to the affected families, and we are working diligently to resolve this matter."
Iowa was hit the hardest of all eight states with the state registering the only death from the bacterial infection outbreak.

Over forty lawsuits have been filed as expected.
