The suspect was identified after his fifth parcel bomb went off at a FedEx store in Austin - perhaps the bomb went off too early. A review of the CCTV footage showed a man wearing a wig, gloves and a hat dropping off two packages at the shop on Sunday at about 7.30pm.
It consists of nails and metal shrapnel destined for an address in Austin. The second parcel bomb was intercepted at a FedEx building near Austin-Bergstrom airport.


The suspect was identified after his fifth parcel bomb went off at a FedEx store in Austin - perhaps the bomb went off too early. A review of the CCTV footage showed a man wearing a wig, gloves and a hat dropping off two packages at the shop on Sunday at about 7.30pm.  It consists of nails and metal shrapnel destined for an address in Austin. The second parcel bomb was intercepted at a FedEx building near Austin-Bergstrom airport.
The local terrorist blew himself up at the side of the Interstate 35 motorway in the suburb of Round Rock, just north of Austin, while he was being monitored by police.

Police searched the man's home in Pflugerville - north of Austin, a suspicious package was found and a wide cordon was setup in the neighbourhood.

Austin residents have been urged to remain vigilant because there could be additional explosive devices.

Austin Police Chief Brian Manley told reporters: 
"The suspect is deceased and has significant injuries from a blast which occurred from detonating a bomb inside his vehicle."

Police are furthering investigation into the suspect's life to determine if he acted alone and also to be sure there are no other bombs out there. The news of his death brought a sense of ease to the state of Texas after being terrorized for over three weeks.

President Donald Trump celebrated the local terrorist's death in a tweet:
"AUSTIN BOMBING SUSPECT IS DEAD. Great job by law enforcement and all concerned!"
Residents took to twitter to express their relief as well:
"For the first time in weeks, Austin will wake up with a sense of relief this morning - the serial bomber is dead, killing himself after FBI, police closed in this morning in Round Rock, Texas." - WFAA-TV reporter Jason Whiteley.
"I woke up to read that the Austin bomber is dead. Well, that's a relief. Hopefully, he's the only one." - Another tweeted

Before his death:
A reddit user with the name "austinbomber" claimed to be the local terrorist and vowed he wouldn't stop until he became "as prolific as the Zodiac killer", the New York Daily News reported.

The user described how he made the bombs and wrote: 
"My intention is not to kill people. I am doing this simply because I want to watch the world burn."
It's not clear if it was a hoax.
