IS IT NECESSARY?? WORLD'S FIRST THREE-PARENT BABY BORN FROM COMBINATION OF DNA FROM THREE DIFFERENT PEOPLE

The world's first child created usin a controversial new "three-parent" baby technique has been born in Mexico.

Scientists say the technique combines DNA from three people - the mother, the father and an egg donor.

Limited details about the birth were revealed ahead of the American Society of Reproductive Medicine's Scientific congress in Salt Lake City next month, where it will be discussed more extensively.

According to critics, the procedure is tantamount to genetic modification of humans or even "playing God" but supporters sayit allows with a particular type of genetic disease to have healthy children who are related to them.

The magazine New Scientist, said the baby is now five months old and born to Jordanian parents. The work was carried out by a team of experts from the US led by Dr. John Zhang of the New Hope Fertility Center in New York. The goal was to prevent the baby from inheriting a fatal genetic disease from his mother, who had previously lost two children to the illness.

The child's mother has Leigh syndrome - a fatal disorder that affects the developing nervous system and would have been passed on in her mitochondrial DNA.

Although she is healthy, two of her children have died as a result of inheriting the disease: a girl who lived until she was six and an eight-month-old baby. The research summary identified the mother as 36-year-old and said her pregnancy was uneventful. One of the five eggs the researchers treated was suitable for use.

The technique used by Dr. John Zhang and his team involved removing some of the mother's DNA from an egg, and leaving the disease-causing DNA behind. The healthy DNA was slipped into a donor's egg, which was then fertilized. As a result, the baby inherited DNA from both parents and the egg donor.

The technique is sometimes said to produce "three-parent babies" , but the DNA contribution from the egg donor is very small. People carry DNA in two places, the nucleus of the cell and in features called mitochondria, which lie outside the nucleus. The technique is designed to transfer only DNA of the nucleus to the donor egg, separating it from the mother's disease-causing mitochondrial DNA.

Critics question the technique's safety, saying children would have to be tracked for decades to make sure they remain healthy. And they say it passes a fundamental scientific boundary by altering the DNA inherited by future generations. Mitochondrial DNA is passed from women to their offspring.

Still, last year, Britain became the first country in the world to allow creation of human embryos with the technique. In the U.S, a panel of government advisers said earlier this year that it's ethical to test the approach in people if initial experiments follow certain strict safety steps.

That report was requested by the Food and Drug Administration, which is currently prevented by Congress from considering applications to approve testing the technique in people.

Shroukhrat Mitalipov, who has worked with the approach at the Oregon Health and Science University in Portland, said that given the panel's conclusion, "We believe it's time to move forward with FDA-approved clinical trials in the United States."

Henry Greely, who directs the Center for Law and the Biosciences at Stanford University, said Tuesday he sees nothing wrong with using the technique if it's safe and is aimed at diseases clearly caused by faulty mitochondrial DNA but he called the research leading to the newly reported birth "unethical, unwise, immoral."

He said the approach "hasn't been sufficiently proven safe enough to try to use to make a baby."

Dieter Egli of the New York Stem Cell Foundation, who has done work in the area, was cautious about the implications of the new report.

"I wouldn't go out there at this point and tout the accomplishment because we don't have enough information," he said Tuesday. "We do not know exactly what was done. We have to wait for a fuller report," - he said.

"I DIDN'T WANNA EMBARRASS HILLARY CLINTON, I WAS HOLDING BACK AT DEBATE" - REPUBLICAN'S U.S PRESIDENTIAL CANDITATE DONALD TRUMP SAYS

Donald Trump has suggested that he did so well at Monday Night's U.S Presidential election debate claiming he held back because he didn't want to embarrass his rival Hillary Clinton.
Speaking to a fired-up crowd in Melbourne on Tuesday, Trump said that he has the momentum for victory after what he said was a strong win in Monday's debate against Democrat's Hillary Clinton.

"Clinton is as crooked as they come," Trump said, "Everything she did turned out bad." "I was holding back, I didn't want to embarrass her."
"She is the candidate of yesterday, and ours is the campaign and the people of the future," Trump said. "She's an insider, fighting only for her donors and insiders. I'm an outsider fighting for you."
During his speech at the AeroMod International hangar at Orlando Melbourne International Airport, Trump said Clinton was "incompetent as secretary of state."
"Crooked Hillary is going to be worse than Obama and we can't let it happen," Trump said.
Trump also promised that he would "build the wall" to prevent illegal immigration into the United States from Mexico, and that Mexico would pay for it.

Hearing those remarks, the crowd estimated to be about 8500 chanted:
"BUILD THE WALL."

"I WON'T BE SILENT ON POLICE VIOLENCE" - TENNIS LIVING LEGEND SERENA WILLIAMS WRITES ON FACEBOOK

Serena Williams, 35, weighs in on police violence/brutality/discrimination against African-Americans in the United States Of America.
She narrated how she had asked her 18-year old nephew to drive her somewhere so she could work during the journey but then she saw a police car then she "remembered that horrible video of the woman in the car when a cop shot her boyfriend" and all of this went through my mind in a matter of seconds"
See the full post after the cut

Today I asked my 18 year old nephew (to be clear he's black) to drive me to my meetings so I can work on my phone #safetyfirst. In the distance I saw cop on the side of the road. I quickly checked to see if he was obliging by the speed limit. Then I remembered that horrible video of the woman in the car when a cop shot her boyfriend. All of this went through my mind in a matter of seconds. I even regretted not driving myself. I would never forgive myself if something happened to my nephew. He's so innocent. So were all "the others."

I am a total believer that not "everyone" is bad it is just the ones that are ignorant, afraid, uneducated, and insensitive that is affecting millions and millions of lives.

Why did I have to think about this in 2016? Have we not gone through enough, opened so many doors, impacted billions of lives? But I realized we must stride on-for it's not how far we have come but how much further still we have to go.

I than wondered than have I spoken up? I had to take a look at me. What about my nephews? What if I have a son and what about my daughters?

As Dr. Martin Luther King said "There comes a time when silence is betrayal."

I
Won't
Be
Silent

ENGLAND MANAGER SAM ALLARDYCE IN BIG TROUBLE AFTER HE WAS RECORDED BEING UNETHICAL

English Football Association is investigating Sam Allardyce for his comment in a video which was secretly filmed by undercover Telegraph reporters posing as agents from Far East.
Question: Isn't recording without his permission or his knowledge a crime?
Over the course of two meetings which were secretly filmed, Allardyce told the fake businessmen that it was "not a problem" to bypass the rules on transfers introduced by the FA in 2008.
Allardyce said he knew of certain agents who were "doing it all the time" and added: "You can still get around it. I mean obviously the big money's here."

Allardyce, who as at the time of filming had not even taken charge of his first England game, negotiated a deal with these men who maintained they represent a far east company that was hoping to profit from the Premier League's billion-pound transfer market.

Allardyce will have to explain to the FA whether he was giving an honest account of what happened in the sport or if he was advising the fake businessmen to follow those illegal practices.

In the video, Allardyce aslo hit out at former England manager Roy Hodgson calling him "woy" while also blasting the FA's decision to rebuild Wembley as "stupid."
He also described Gary Neville, Hodgson's assistant during his reign as the manager of the Three Lions as "the worst influence."
