South Dakota Teen Admits to Killing 16-Year-Old Girl He Met Online

17-year-old Michael Campbell pleaded guilty to first-degree manslaughter in the killing of Shayna Ritthaler, 16, after running away from home to live with him. South Dakota!

Ritthaler was reported missing from a Moorcroft, Wyoming, coffee shop last October weeks after meeting her would-be killer on the dating website Badoo.

Campbell reportedly picked Ritthaler up from Wyoming Oct. 3 and drove her back to his Sturgis, South Dakota, home. During their time together, an argument ensued that ended with Campbell shooting Ritthaler once in the head.

Ritthaler's decomposing body was found in Campbell's basement by investigators who tracked following the missing teen's trail.

Shortly after his arrest, a judge sealed court documents detailing the crime citing the case's "sensitive nature."

Campbell was initially charged with second-degree murder, which was dismissed as part of the plea that recommends 55 years in prison.

He is scheduled to be sentenced in July.
