Gabonese football star, Mario Lemina, who plays for English Premier League club, Southampton, reportedly received Britain's biggest ever speeding ticket and subsequently banned from driving for 12 months.
The 25-year-old was hit with £96,000 fine after failing to tell the authority on three occasions IF he was the one driving when his Mercedes-AMG GLA45 was clocked for speeding.
The Sun reported that the Gabon international claimed that he did not know whether it was his brother or cousin were behind the wheel of his £50,000 Mercedes-AMG GLA45. But he admitted three counts of failing to notify police after ignoring their letters.
According to the report, the fine of £96,000 is three times his weekly salary at the Premier League club, but it could have risen to £144,000 had he denied he was driving at the time.
Lemina did not appear at Aldershot magistrates' court to receive his punishment but the £96,000 fine exceeded the £86,000 handed to television star Ant McPartlin for drink-driving back in April.
