HUGE FIRE RAVAGES BRAZIL'S NATIONAL MUSEUM DESTROYING PRICELESS AND HISTORIC ARTIFACTS

Brazil's 200-year-old history museum - Rio Museu Nacional, Rio de Janeiro, engulfed by fire destroying priceless historic artifacts.

The museum reportedly holds thousands of items about the history of Brazil and other countries with many of its collections coming from members of Brazil’s royal family.

It was not immediately clear what exactly sparked the fire but the museum reportedly had concerning infrastructural problems in recent years.

The museum is Brazil’s oldest. Sérgio Sá Leitão, the country’s culture minister, told the newsmen how tragic it was to see the museum in flames, said the fire "could certainly have been avoided."

President Michel Temer tweeted:
"Two hundred years of work, investigation and knowledge have been lost."
