He's the second highest goalscorer for the Croatia National Football Team with 33 goals in 89 appearances. The first is Davor Šuker, 45 goals in 69 appearances.
In an emotional post on Instagram, Mandzuki thanked the fans for their support during his career, also describing how he will miss the honour of wearing the Croatia jersey and hearing the national anthem. He feels that has given everything for Croatia during his 11 year career with the national team, and therefore feels that now is the best time to step aside to create opportunity for younger players and focus on remainder of club(Juventus) football.
Mandzuki is not the only player to have announced their international retirement after the World Cup in Russia, with Spanish internationals Andres Iniesta, Gerard Pique and David Silva, as well as Germany and Arsenal star Mesut Ozil in suite.
