A Russian passenger plane, short-haul AN-148 operated by Saratov Airlines was traveling from Orsk in Orenburg region when it crashed killing all seventy-one people on board.
“According to preliminary information, nobody survived,” the Kremlin said in a statement.
Transport Minister Maxim Sokolov confirmed DNA tests would be needed to identify the remains as he confirmed there were no survivors from the crash.
A criminal case has been opened into the incident as they investigate the cause of the crash as there were no distress signals from the crew.
Probable cause could be human errors, weather conditions or the plane's technical condition because it reportedly disappeared from radar screens shortly after taking off from Moscow’s Domodedovo airport.
President Vladimir Putin offered condolences to those who had lost relatives and ordered a special investigative commission to be set up.
