A spokesman for the Punjab government says that a bomb attack on a park in the Pakistani
city of Lahore has killed 65 people and injured 300, though the number is feared to continue
climbing as many of the wounded are in critical condition.
Zaeem Qadri said that the chief minister of Punjab province, Shahbaz Sharif, has
announced three days mourning and pledged to ensure that those involved in the terror
attack are brought to trial.
Local police chief Haider Ashraf said the park was manned by police guards and private
security guards.
He said: ‘We are in a warlike situation and there is always a general threat but no specific
threat alert was received for this place.’
Eyewitnesses said they saw body parts strewn across the parking lot once the dust had
settled.
Shocking images from the scene show people mourning their dead loved ones and helping
move the wounded away from the debris-littered blast site.
