FORMER CIA SPY ACCUSED OF SPYING (DOUBLE AGENT) FOR CHINA PLEADS NOT GUILTY

Former CIA spy, Jerry Chun Shing Lee, pleaded not guilty in a Virginia federal after he was indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit espionage and unlawful retention of classified information. Shing Lee is believed to have helped China identify and kill members of the US spy network in the country.
Former CIA spy, Jerry Chun Shing Lee, pleaded not guilty in a Virginia federal after he was indicted on charges of conspiracy to commit espionage and unlawful retention of classified information. Shing Lee is believed to have helped China identify and kill members of the US spy network in the country.

His trial date is set for February 12, 2019 by Judge T. S. Ellis III.

The Department of alleges that Lee, a US citizen, was approached by two Chinese intelligence officers in 2010 and 2011 to trade information for money.

The former CIA officer is believed to have helped China dismantle a US spy network in the country and identify informants who were later killed or imprisoned. 

The New York Times reported in January that the imprisonment and/or execution of about a dozen Chinese nationals working for the US spy network was "one of the most devastating intelligence setbacks for the agency in recent decades."
