Authorities confirmed the deceased died in the hospital following injuries he sustained from the inferno. He was a resident of the building.
Four firefighters were treated for minor injuries.
Shortly after the news broke, Trump tweeted:
"Fire at Trump Tower is out. Very confined (well built building). Firemen (and women) did a great job. THANK YOU!"The New York Fire Department did not release suspected cause of the blaze calling it a three-alarm blaze and there were no immediate reports of injuries -As shared on the Twitter account of the department.
Fire Commissioner Daniel Nigro said on Twitter:
"This was a very difficult fire. As you can imagine, the apartment is quite large, we are 50 stories up. The rest of the building had a considerable amount of smoke."
