China's Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Hua Chunying, however, said: "The case should be properly handled through dialogue between the UK and Russia on the basis of clarifying the facts," stating implicating evidence(s) is(are) needed as insisted by the government of the Russia Federation.

She continued:
"The countries concerned should earnestly abide by the basic norms of international law and international relations and avoid taking any measures that intensify contradictions."
"With the current international community facing many challenges, all countries should abandon the Cold War mentality, give up confrontation, work together to safeguard world peace, stability and tranquillity, and work together to build a new type of international relations that is mutual respect, fairness, justice, and win-win cooperation."
Hua Chunying also stressed China's take on the use of chemical weapons saying China "firmly opposes any use of chemical weapons" while expressing that her party is "highly concerned about the current state of affairs" precipitated by Russia.

Australia and Ireland are in on the mass expulsion of Russian diplomats across the world with a few other countries threatening to boycott the 2018 FIFA World Cup tournament scheduled to hold in Russia from June 14 to July 15.

The Russian Embassy in Canberra, Australia, said the decision was regrettable and jeopardized bilateral relationships.
"It is astonishing how easily the allies of Great Britain follow it blindly contrary to the norms of civilized bilateral dialogue and international relations, and against ... common sense."
Earlier on Tuesday, Deputy Foreign Minister Sergei Ryabkov said Moscow was working on a "tough response" to the expulsions.
