BARCELONA: Naked protesters package themselves as 'blood-soaked meat' to demand for protection of animal rights

This bizarre demonstration took place at the Sant Jaume plaza in Barcelona, Spain. Some naked animal rights protesters from a group named 'AnimaNaturalis', drew serious attention by packaging themselves as 'bloody human meat'.
They took off their clothes, daubed themselves in fake blood, stepped into polysterene trays and were wrapped in clingfilm.

The 20 activists were making a dramatic plea to people to adopt a meat-free diet, free from animal exploitation and any suffering. The protest was aimed at raising public awareness and to remind Barcelona's city council that their pledge should mean actions and not just words.

AnimaNaturalis say 60 billion animals are used every year to supply the diet of humans 'thus making the lives of living beings into mere objects of production to feed the human population.' Animals to them should be protected and nor killed for consumption.

FOOTBALL: MAN UTD HANDING KEYS OF THE KINGDOM TO MOURINHO AND MENDES

Jose Mourinho desperately wanted to replace Sir Alex Ferguson when he retired in 2013 and thought he was getting the job. Three years later, he is about to be given control while Manchester United are in disarray.

Executive vice-chairman Ed Woodward has built up an undeniable partnership with Mendes that will endure for however long Mourinho stays. The club needs a strategy and is placing its future in the hands of the Portuguese power couple.

Mendes has been deeply embedded at Manchester United for a long time. He was the man who brought Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford in 2003 - his most important transfer - and was also involved in the deals which saw Anderson, Nani, David de Gea, Falcao, Angel Di Maria and Victor Valdes arrive at the club.
The playing staff will be overhauled and we should expect players with ties to Mendes to pitch up at Old Trafford.

United fans would argue that if more players theMendes has been deeply embedded at Manchester United for a long time. He was the man who brought Cristiano Ronaldo to Old Trafford in 2003 - his most important transfer - and was also involved in the deals which saw Anderson, Nani, David de Gea, Falcao, Angel Di Maria and Victor Valdes arrive at the club.
The playing staff will be overhauled and we should expect players with ties to Mendes to pitch up at Old Trafford. quality of Anthony Martial arrive, then there will be no problem.

There have, of course, been difficulties for some of those Mendes clients under previous management but it is unlikely that under Mourinho the likes of De Gea or Di Maria would have been treated as they were under Louis van Gaal.
Overall, Mendes is more interested in the best for his players and not necessarily the club at which they play. Despite Ronaldo's success in Manchester, he had no qualms about moving him on to Madrid.

The city has been good to De Gea but Mendes was ready to whip him away to the Santiago Bernabeu last summer.
United may have done Mendes a favour in the Bebe deal - where he cashed in for about €3.5 million of a €9m fee - but when push comes to shove, Mendes is in the business of moving players in... and out.
That will not stop him or Mourinho building their own extensive power base at the club for the duration of the manager's tenure.
In the book The Special One by Diego Torres, it was revealed that Mendes practically kept an office at Real Madrid's Valdebebas training ground, moving freely around the gym and canteen, unencumbered by the restrictions Mourinho placed even on the players' families.
He sat in Mourinho's chair and conducted business meetings in his office. Some of the players referred to him as "the boss".
Mourinho took on the might of Real Madrid, even if he ultimately lost. His grand ambition was to be the king of the Bernabeu. He aimed for total control; not only as first-team coach but contract facilitator, the man responsible for signing players, the man responsible for who in the press wrote what about his team.

If anyone doubted the ability of Mourinho - and his agent - to get out in front of a story then witness the pace at which news of Van Gaal's sacking followed the FA Cup win on Saturday.
Madrid became too institutionally hostile for him to continue and so Mourinho had to leave. There were deep divisions between the 'Spanish' and 'Portuguese' players during Mourinho's time there.
There was a perception - most keenly expressed by Iker Casillas - that the mostly Portuguese-speaking Mendes stable was given favourable treatment by the manager when it came to first-team minutes, contract renewals and portrayals through the media.
Not only that, but they heard first-hand from Mendes exactly what the manager had in store. They were close to decision-making processes. It was in a player's interests to align himself with Mendes or face the consequences.
At the time that Jorge Valdano left his role as sporting director in the summer of 2011 it appeared the coast was clear for Mourinho to rule for decades at Spain's most famous club.
He would have done so alongside his agent, friend and confidant, Mendes. He is arguably the most powerful man in football now, controlling the destiny of not only Mourinho but also players such as Ronaldo, Di Maria and James Rodriguez.
Scarcely a big deal goes by without Mendes having something to do with it and at one stage Mourinho's Real Madrid team featured not only Ronaldo and Di Maria but Pepe, Ricardo Carvalho and Fabio Coentrao. It would have been more, too, had Mourinho got his way and Hugo Almeida arrived from Werder Bremen.
Ferguson did not want Mourinho in charge when he left and that sentiment broadly holds. However, Ferguson, former chief executive David Gill and the United board are less involved in the decision making at Old Trafford these days. It could be the start of a new dynasty not only for Mourinho but also for Mendes.
Manchester United are not only hiring a manager; they may very well be handing over the keys to the kingdom to the Special One and his agent.

FOOTBALL: MASCHERANO WANTS TO QUIT BARCELONA FOR JUVENTUS

Juventus are in contact with Javier Mascherano over a summer transfer and the Argentine is ready to consider leaving Barcelona, Goal understands.
Mascherano would favour a more advanced role than the one he has been playing for Barca, and Juventus would offer the 31-year-old a midfield spot.

It is understood coach Luis Enrique blocked a transfer to Rafael Benitez's Napoli two seasons ago and promised Mascherano he would play in midfield. However, the former Liverpool man has played most of his 280 plus games for Barca in defence due to a lack of alternatives in that position.

Luis Enrique's side would not be happy about losing one of their most important players but would nonetheless welcome the opportunity to save money on their budget for the upcoming season - as well as facilitate the transfer of new players.
Kevin Gameiro leads the Barca short list but the Sevilla striker is currently out of their price range while a deal for Villarreal's Denis Suarez is close.

Any transfer for Mascherano would also mean Barcelona entering the market for a central defender with Paris St-Germain's Marquinhos the ideal candidate for Barca directors.

John Stones and Aymeric Laporte of Athletic Bilbao have also been identified as long-term targets but concerns over the recent form of the Everton man as well as the price of both mean they are destined to end up elsewhere - probably Pep Guardiola's Manchester City.

Italian champions Juventus are in the market for a midfielder due to the injury suffered by Claudio Marchisio with Valencia's Andre Gomes and Roma's Miralem Pjanic also tipped for summer arrivals.

Earlier this year, Ronaldo hinted that he could be open to a switch to Major League Soccer but the Portugal international is now ready to see out his career in the Spanish capital.

"It's obvious I want to stay I here. I think I am going to retire at Real Madrid,” Ronaldo told La Sexta’s 'Jugones' show.
"Renewal after the Champions League final? Let's see. Real Madrid would be smart if they extend my contract.

FOITBALL: 'YOU WERE TOO F***ING DEAR!' - FERGUSON REVEALS WHY HE DIDN'T SIGN..

After all these years, Sir Alex Ferguson has finally revealed why he never signed Ian Wright for Manchester United.
Wright is second to Thierry Henry in Arsenal’s all-time top goalscorer list, while he remains the second-quickest player behind Ted Drake to reach 100 goals for the Gunners.

Wright, who joined from Crystal Palace for a then club-record fee of £2.5 million, also holds the record for scoring in 12 consecutive games for Arsenal - a feat not even Henry managed at the club.

And when he met Ferguson before Manchester United’s FA Cup final, Wright, who was working as a pundit for BT Sport, told the Scot: “You should’ve signed me!”

But Ferguson replied: “You were too f***ing dear! I like cheap buys.”

The former United boss then completely destroyed his own argument by pointing to Rio Ferdinand and saying: “£29 million”.

LIBYA: Heart-wrenching photos of migrants being flipped into the sea as their overcrowded boat overturns off the coast of Libya

Over a hundreds refugees were thrown into water when their wooden boat capsized off the Libyan coast. The vessel which was crammed with refugees, started to lean on to its side and when it was apparent it was going to capsize, the frantic passengers began to dive into the water and swim for their lives.

At least five migrants drowned off before they were rescued and pulled to safety. An Italian patrol boat actually saw that the vessel was in difficulty and approached it a little too late to hand out life jackets as the boat flipped over due to sudden movement of the passengers. They however threw life-rafts/jackets to the migrants in the water. Another navy ship in the area sent a helicopter, rescue boats to handle the emergency and hundreds of migrants were safely rescued.
