BOXING: THE DANGERS INVOLVED: Nick Blackwell rushed to hospital after brutal defeat by Chris Eubank Jr

The pair clashed for Blackwell’s British middleweight title at Wembley Arena and Eubank forced a 10th-round stoppage after a vicious performance.

And after the result was read out, Blackwell — just 25 — collapsed in the ring and was given oxygen by the ringside medics who ran to help him.

More frantic doctors rushed in and assembled a stretcher as Blackwell was put in the recovery position.

Across the ring, Eubank muted his celebration as he became aware of the desperate situation in the opposite corner.

The defeated former champion was then rushed out of the now-silent arena on a stretcher and sent straight to hospital with fears mounting over his welfare.

Eubank’s famous father, Chris Senior, was the opponent when Michael Watson suffered life-changing injuries at White Hart Lane in their WBO middleweight title rematch in 1991.

Watson’s injuries were caused by an 11th-round Eubank Senior uppercut and changed how British boxing is served by ringside medical assistance forever.

And every ounce of help was needed here at Wembley after the prolonged and vicious nature of Eubank’s performance.

U.S.A: Brooklyn DA Kenneth Thompson Requests House ArresT For Cop Convicted In Akai Gurley Manslaughter. REALLY??

After a Brooklyn jury made a historic decision to convict a police officer in the killing of an unarmed black man, now a prosecutor is looking to let the former cop basically off the hook.

Jurors expressed shock and dismay Friday over Brooklyn District Attorney Kenneth Thompson’s recommendation of a no-jail sentence for the ex-NYPD cop who killed Akai Gurley.

“What was the point of prosecuting him?” asked a 62-year-old juror who requested anonymity. “What did we do this for?”

“I agree he doesn’t deserve tremendous time,” the juror added, “but if something is wrong, you shouldn’t get a slap on the wrist.”

Former Officer Peter Liang faces up to 15 years in prison after he was convicted of manslaughter in the November 2014 slaying of Gurley, 28.

The unarmed father was mortally wounded when a bullet fired by Liang ricocheted into his chest inside a darkened stairwell at the Pink Houses in East New York.

Saudi Arabia jail journalist for tweeting about human rights

Prominent Saudi journalist Alaa Brinji has been handed a five year sentence, an eight-year 

travel ban and a 50,000 riyals (£9,410) fine over a series of tweets about human rights.

His tweets were in support of prisoners of conscience, human rights defenders and support 

for women’s right to drive cars.

Brinji was arrested in May 2014, held in solitary confinement and was denied access to a

lawyer.

According to the country’s strict Specialized Criminal Court (SCC), Brinji was charged with 

‘insulting the rulers of the country’, ‘inciting public opinion’ and ‘accusing security officers of 

killing protesters in Awamiyya’.

He was also charged with ‘ridiculing Islamic religious figures’ and ‘violating Article 6 of the 

Anti-Cyber Crime Law’.

Programme called the sentencing ‘utterly shameful’.

You have 14 days to reverse that law or the wrath of God will come against you! You should count it, 14 days from today (March 20, 2016), he has 14 days to reverse and invalidate that law… if he refuses to do so, he should expect the wrath of God to visit him!

Speaking to journalist who thronged the worship center upon the declarations, the man of God said, “I prayed very well, and the Lord told me to go ahead and warn El Rufai. And I want you all to count 14 days from the day of the prophecy (March 20, 2016). If he does not retrace his steps and abandon that bill, God will take steps to honor His words. 14 days! Please count it”

Pentagon Announces The Killing Of ISIS Second-In-Command

The Pentagon said Friday that it had killed ISIS’ finance minister, Abd al-Rahman Mustafa al-Qaduli, whom many analysts consider the group’s No. 2 leader.

Those analysts believe al-Qaduli would have been expected to take control of the day-to-day running of ISIS, also called ISIL, if its leader, Abu Bakr al-Baghdadi, was killed or incapacitated.

The U.S. operation was intended to capture him alive, a U.S. official told CNN. Helicopters loaded with special operations forces swooped in on a vehicle carrying al-Qaduli, but at the last moment something happened that caused them to decide to fire on the vehicle instead. The official would not say what it was that caused them to modify the plan.

Defense Secretary Ash Carter announced the death at a news conference Friday morning.

“We are systematically eliminating ISIL’s cabinet,” Carter said, adding it was “the second senior ISIL leader we’ve successfully targeted this month.”

Explaining the significance of this particular figure, Carter noted, “We’ve taken out the leader who oversees the funding for ISIL’s operations, hurting their ability to pay fighters and hire recruits.”

FOOTBALL: Manchester United set to pay Jose Mourinho £60m in a 3-yr deal

The contract, including bonuses for titles and cups won, will make Mourinho the highest-paid football manager in history.

It is almost double what Louis van Gaal currently earns. And while there has been no pre-contract signed between United and Mourinho, there is a verbal agreement in place that he will take over in May.

The Portuguese boss and his advisors are therefore convinced it is a done deal, which will see him trouser up to £20m a year.

It has long been an ambition of Mourinho’s to take over at Old Trafford. He was stunned when he was overlooked after Alex Ferguson retired in favour of David Moyes.

The Special One ended up back at Chelsea where he won the title last season but was sacked on December 17.

The Belgium international has been linked with moves to a host of top European sides, and Roger Lukaku believes his son is ready to make the transition.“He's ready,” Lukaku Sr. told Het Laatste Nieuws. 

“I see that there is interest from Atletico Madrid, Bayern Munich, Juventus, Chelsea and Manchester United.
“I think he must choose Manchester United or Bayern Munich. Manchester United is a team under construction with no real focus.
