Due to go on trial at Bradford Crown Court on Monday, Gemma pleaded guilty to manslaughter by reason of diminished responsibility when the charge was put to her again.
Prosecutor Kama Melly QC said that the guilty plea was acceptable and that two psychiatrists who had evaluated her on separate occasions agreed on their conclusions, which were not shared with the court neither was the details of Elliot's death outlined.
Gemma was surrounded by staff from the secure hospital where she is being held as she stood in the dock and only spoke to confirm her name and to deny murder but admit manslaughter charge.
Judge Jonathan Durham Hall QC said:
"We will resolve this matter, come what may, on June 15 when all the doctors and everybody else who needs to have a say have reported to me."The judge said sentencing will take place on June 15 and remanded Gemma in custody.
