Sir McCartney told CNN he had come "just to support the people" referencing the death of John Lennon:
"One of my best friends was killed in gun violence right around here," he said, "So it's important to me."He added he was unsure if gun violence can be ended, adding:
"But this is what we can do, so I'm here to do it."Sir McCartney was just one of many stars who joined the protests.

They are among hundreds of thousands of people expected to march calling for tighter gun laws.
