Cristiano Ronaldo the hero and the villian as 10-man Real Madrid add to Barcelona's woes at Camp Nou

Real Madrid gets the upper hand as they defeat arch rival, FC Barcelona 1-3 at Camp Nou in the first leg of two-leg Spanish Super Cup.
Gerard Pique scored an own-goal to put Zinedine Zidane's men in front and a controversial penalty was converted by Lionel Messi putting the Blaugranas on leveled terms.
Super-Sub Cristiano Ronaldo came on for Kareem Benzema getting a goal for himself with a sublime screamer but was unfortunately sent off controversially for simulation.

That didn't deter them as Marco Asensio came on for Gareth Bale to get yet another goal for the ten-man squad from yet another screamer.

Frankly, Barcelona were quite subpar in performance - Neymar's sale to PSG in a mammoth world-record transfer is affecting the team...
The second leg will be played Wednesday 16th August at the Santiago Bernabeu.
