BODY OF A MUMMIFIED MAN BELIEVED TO HAVE BEEN DEAD FOR EIGHT MONTHS FOUND ON A TREE IN RUSSIA

Russian Investigators were alerted to a shocking finding in Siberia, the mummified body of a man believed to have been dead for about eight months was found perched on a tree over 50 feet above ground.
The unidentified victim who was found with both hands hugging the tree is believed to have climbed the tree in winter and died of hypothermia.

A local man named Pavel Petrov found the body on July 1st, near a road leading to the 'closed city' of Seversk, from which foreigners are banned, where Russia enriches and reprocesses uranium and plutonium.

"It was me and my father who found the body," he told local media.

"He was sitting in a pine tree some 50 metres away from the road."

"The rescuer who took the body off the tree said that most likely the man got so cold he decided to climb the tree, and eventually from extreme low body temperature (hypothermia)."

Following preliminary investigations, The Russian Investigative Committee estimates he died about eight months ago just about the beginning of winter.

TAXI DRIVER WHO RETURNED $187,000 LEFT IN HIS CAR BY A PASSENGER SAYS HE WAS "DISAPPOINTED" BY $100 REWARD.

Raymond MacCausland, a 72-year-old Boston taxi driver found $187,000 in caah after dropping a man on Saturday afternoon July 2nd and promptly, in good Samaritan fashion, returned the bulky sum to the police. He now says feel "disappointed" by the $100 reward given to him.

MacCausland, who has been working as a taxi driver for 50 years, said the man he carried in his taxi inherited the cash after living in a homeless shelter for six months. The money was returned to the unnamed man after police determine he was the rightful owner.

"I thought maybe he would give $500 or $1000, maybe one of those bundles," the taxi driver told the New York Daily News.

"I've never seen money like that before. It was quite a sight when they dumped it on the table."

He was relieved when police discovered the inheritance paperwork, adding: "I know if it wasn't they'd come looking for me."

"This hackney driver exhibited exemplary behaviour and his honest deed should be recognized," Police Commissioner William Evans said in a statement.

This is not the first time MacCausland has been inadequately rewarded for his honesty. He once returned a briefcase filled with $10,000 to its owner who gave him no rewards.

FATHER ACCIDENTALLY SHOT AND KILLED HIS SON DEAD AT A GUN RANGE

A teenager Stephen Brumby, 14 was accidentally shot by his own father, William Brumby, 64 during a target practise at a gun range in Sarasota, Florida.

He later succumbed to his gun injuries and have up the ghost at the hospital.

According to the statement by the Sarasota County Sheriff's Office;

"After firing a round, the spent shell casing struck the wall causing it to deflect and fall into the back of Mr. Brumby's shirt. Brumby then used his right hand, which was holding the handgun in an attempt to remove the casing. While doing so, he inadvertently pointed the firearm directly behind him and accidentally fired. The round struck his 14-year old son, Stephen.: the statement reads.

Mr. Brumby said he had taken his son to the Florida range to teach him how to be safe around guns but admitted he himself had committed an "operating error" which had claimed his life.

"The gun didn't kill my boy, I did. Every round in the gun is your responsibility. When it fires, you need to stand to account for it. That's what I've spent  the last two days doing, accounting for my operating error"

Mr. Brumby said that all seven of his children were taught gun safety because the family had weapons for self-defence at home.

"We wanted our kids to be aware of guns. I wanted them to be comfortable around them and understand them."

He has been told he will not gave chatges because it was an accident. "It was a freak accident, I made a mistake."- he added.

The full statement issued by Sarasota County (FL) Sheriff's Office yesterday, July 4: 

"SCSO is continuing to investigate the Accident Shooting that occurred Sunday afternoon at approximately 3:15, at High Noon Gun Range, 4583 Bee Ridge Road, in Sarasota.

The victim, who was transported to Sarasota Memorial Hospital and later died as a result of his injuries, has been identified as 14-year-old Stephen J. Brumby, DOB 11/02/01, of Sarasota.

Based on witness statements as well as video obtained from inside the business, detectives determined that Stephen J. Brumby died as a result of an accidental gunshot by his father, William C. Brumby, DOB 06/02/52.

William Brumby was positioned in the last shooting lane where there was a solid wall on his right-hand side. After firing a round, the spent shell casing struck the wall causing it to deflect and fall into the back of Mr. Brumbys shirt. Brumby then used his right hand, which was holding the handgun, in an attempt to remove the casing. While doing so, he inadvertently pointed the firearm directly behind him and accidentally fired. The round struck 14-year-old son Stephen J. Brumby. Mr. Brumby was also in the company of his 24-year-old son and 12-year-old daughter at the time of the incident. Neither were injured.

At this time, there are no charges pending against Mr. Brumby. The investigation is on-going.
