FOOTBALL: BRAZIL: KAKA REPLACES DOUGLAS COSTA IN BRAZIL'S COPA AMERICA SQUAD

Kaka will replace the injured Douglas Costa in Brazil's 23-man squad for the upcoming Copa America Centenario, it was announced on Thursday.
Bayern Munich midfielder Costa, who played in the club's penalty shoot-out win against Borussia Dortmund in the DFB-Pokal final last week, was ruled out of the Copa America due to a left-thigh injury.

Brazil coach Dunga elected to replace him with Orlando City midfielder Kaka, who has contributed five assists and scored twice in seven appearances in the MLS this season.
Kaka made his Brazil debut under Luiz Felipe Scolari in 2002 at the age of 19, and has gone on to play 91 times for the national team.
Brazil are looking to win a ninth Copa America title at the special Centenario edition of the tournament, held in the United States next month.

FOOTBALL: MOURINHO URGES MANCHESTER UNITED TO 'FORGET THE PAST THREE YEARS'

Jose Mourinho is keen for Manchester United to forget a spluttering three years under David Moyes and Louis van Gaal as he begins the process of making them a "great" club again.
Mourinho was named as Van Gaal's replacement at Old Trafford on Friday, signing
a three-year deal at the Premier League club after days of negotiations.
The 53-year-old will be charged with returning United to the top of the English game and restoring their place among European football's elite, a challenge he is relishing.
And the former Chelsea, Real Madrid and Inter boss hopes to channel the spirit of United under Alex Ferguson to bring back the glory days.
"We can look at our club now in two perspectives," he told MUTV. "One perspective is the last three years and another perspective is the club history.
"I think I prefer to forget the past three years, I prefer to focus on the giant club I have in my hands now and I think what the fans are expecting me to say is that I want to win. I think the players need to listen - I want to win."
Mourinho is confident the appointment comes at the perfect time in his own career, having spent five months out of the game after his sacking at Stamford Bridge.
He added: "I feel great. I think it comes in the right moment of my career because Man United is one of these clubs where you need really to be prepared for it because it is what I call a giant club.
"And giant clubs must be for the best managers and I think I am ready for it, so I could say I am happy, I am proud, I am honoured."

NIGERIA: Bill to increase power of Sharia scales 2nd reading without debate at the House of Rep.

The House of Representatives yesterday passed the second reading of a bill to increase the powers and jurisdiction of Sharia Law in Nigeria. The bill which is being sponsored Abdullahi Salame, the lawmaker representing Gwadabawa/Illela federal constituency of Sokoto state scaled through without a debate. ‎ Speaking on the bill, Jonathan Gaza Gbefwi, deputy chairman of the house committee on media and publicity, said;
“The bill came up on the floor and was automatically referred to the adhoc committee on constitution review. There was no debate on it either for or against because the house is a democratic representatives chamber of the Nigerian people. Even if five people only have an issue with any section of the constitution, the house will give it a listening ear. The ad hoc committee on constitution review has one member per state and women and other representation. The precedence is that it is in this committee that these kind of matters are thrashed out. Any bill that has potentials to divide the country on religious or tribal lines or to reopen settled constitutional issues will most likely fail in the committee”he said

Woman who paid fellow shopper's £22 bill rewarded with £8,000 painting as a thank you

A woman, 29 year old Pamela Philip, who generously paid a fellow customer’s £22 shopping bill was surprised and shocked when he rewarded her kindness with an £8,000 painting. Philip was shocked when she discovered that the man she helped was a famous “sleepwalking artist”, who was so moved by her random act of kindness he decided to gift her with one of his works of art.

Pamela said she was behind a flustered customer, who had lost his wallet, in the queue at Tesco so decided to help him out by paying his £22 bill for him. She said the man insisted on repaying her for her generosity and convinced her to give him her address.

She gave it to him and forgot all about the incident. However, one month later she received a package in the post. Inside the package was a cheque for £22 and a painting with a certificate of authenticity signed by 41 year old artist Lee Hadwin who only draws when he's asleep but can never draw when awake.

She didn't know who Hadwin was so she decided to investigate. That was when she discovered the man she encountered at Tesco was Mr Hadwin, a professional artist who does all his work while sleeping, and the painting of a red cross on a solid black background is worth £7,850.

She said:
“I still can’t believe it, I’m in shock. I never expected to hear from him again. “When he asked for my address I kept saying ‘no don’t worry about it, it’s nothing’ because £22 is nothing really. “I had forgotten all about it. I think it’s quite a rare thing for people to do these days.
I gave the money without expecting anything back. “If his shopping had been £100 I wouldn’t have offered, but £22 isn’t much so I was happy to help.”
