CRIME: Man posing as Uber driver kidnaps and rapes woman

Los Angeles police have arrested a man they say posed as an Uber driver and picked up a woman waiting for a ride in the Westlake district area into his car. According to Police Chief Charlie Beck, 39 year old Dartanyun Smith pretended to be an Uber driver and pulled up to a woman waiting for an Uber driver. She said Yes and got into his car. However, as soon as she got in, he drove about two blocks, he choked her unconscious several times and raped her several times as well.

Fortunately for her, she fought Smith each time she was conscious, she screamed and cried which alerted neighbours in the area who thankfully called the Police.

Responding officers heard her cries coming from a dark-colored SUV, in which they said they saw a male suspect assaulting a woman in the back seat.

“The victim was valiantly fighting the suspect,” police said in a statement. “The officers tried to open the doors of the suspect’s vehicle, but they were locked. Officers used their batons to break the vehicle’s side windows in an attempt to render aid to the victim.”

Police said the man jumped into the driver’s seat, started the engine and drove towards one of the Police officers.  The officer shot at Smith but missed.

“The suspect vehicle continued to flee from the officers,” police said in their statement. “The officers pursued the vehicle but lost sight of it.”

Beck told reporters that officers found the woman standing in the street after she had been pushed out of the vehicle by Smith.

“We believed that we had a predator loose on the streets of Los Angeles,” Beck said. “We didn’t want the second crime in a series to occur.”

Police Chief Charlie Beck said on Monday that Smith was arrested over the weekend after he was tied to the “horrific” crime through DNA evidence collected from the victim, according to the Los Angeles Times.

Smith was arrested at Saturday morning, according to police booking records. He is being held on $1 million bail.

SAUDI ARABIA: A cleric in Saudi Arabia says women will be 'exposed to evil' if allowed to drive

Saudi Arabia's most senior cleric, Grand Mufti Sheikh Abdul Aziz bin-Abdullah al-Sheikh has defended the kingdom's ban on female drivers on the grounds that they will be 'exposed to evil' if allowed to drive. He said men “obsessed with women” and with "weak spirits" could end up causing female drivers harm and that male relatives would not know their whereabouts.

Although women driving in Saudi Arabia is not against the law, in practice women are unable to obtain driving licences.  Exceptions are occasionally made in rural areas if a woman needs to drive for her family life.

Despite stifling conservative norms, the Kingdom has made some progress in women rights, women were allowed to vote for the first time last year.

In February 2015, Saleh al-Saadoon, a conservative historian, sparked an outcry by saying that women in Saudi Arabia should not be allowed to drive on the grounds that they might get raped if their cars broke down.

Western women drove, he explained, because rape was not such a big deal to them.

Future replies Ciara's defamation lawsuit & defends calling her 'a washed up b**ch in court

On April 8th, Future headed to court and fired back at his baby mama’s $15 mill lawsuit and slapped her with a counter-suit. The rapper begins by addressing Ciara’s allegations of defamation– saying she waited past the statute of limitations to sue him if he did slander her name and thus he demands her claims to be thrown out.
He points out that her lawsuit generated more publicity than any of his tweets did and therefore she intentionally damaged herself by suing him. He also claims that the alleged service of process of the lawsuit by her was attempted at LAX in front of paparazzi.
Future says Ciara is a publicity whore and is clearly trying every way to milk the lawsuit to generate PR for herself.

In regards to his Tweets , he says when he called her a “bitch” it meant overbearing, complaining or unpleasant — not a lewd or immoral woman.

The rapper also accuses Ciara of lying about his tweet referencing the $15k child support. He says she knows that’s actually what SHE is seeking and she told him she would sue him for $20k in support if he didn’t pay her the $15k a month she wanted. He says none of his social media posts were false or defamatory and there was no malice involved but rather the reaction of a father who wanted to see his son more frequently and on a more reasonable basis — all of which is protected by freedom of speech.

Future then goes for the jugular. He admits that both work in the entertainment industry but he says Ciara does not currently have a successful singer. He states if that statement was made several years ago it would have been accurate to state, since she had a successful career but it has been declining over the past 2-3 years. He says she does not have a “huge” fan base and is certainly not famous around the entire world and points out to her last album being a flop along with her currently not winning any awards.

Future also blasts his baby mama for claiming her success helped his career — saying she had no part in his rise to the top and needs to stop living in the past.
He states that Ciara is the one who is trying to create media attention for herself by using his celebrity status and the status of her “apparent” fiancé Russell Wilson along with using their minor child.

He says if she were such a great mother she wouldn’t parade their son around cameras and would actually work with him to create a schedule for him to see his kid.

Future slapped Ciara with a counter-suit demanding she cease making any further false statements about him, along with her being ordered to pay his legal fees for her frivolous lawsuit and also unspecified punitive damages for violating the law with her nonsense complaint. Future also wants all her claims against him to be thrown out and Ciara be awarded nothing from her $15 mill complaint.

Mother makes her son walk naked around the street as punishment for stealing from his grandmother

A Vietnamese woman has been seriously reprimanded by Police in the northern city of Hai Phong for forcing her 12-year-old son to walk naked on a street as punishment for stealing VND500,000 (US$22) from his grandmother to play online games.

The boy was seen walking in tears without clothes on Tran Nguyen Han Street around noon on Monday, April 11 while his mother repeatedly insulted and whipped him, Tuoi Tre newspaper reports. Some neighbors reportedly asked her to stop, but she refused to. They then called the police.

"I don’t want to treat him like that. But this could be the only way to make him feel ashamed so that he won’t steal money anymore,"  she said.

INDIA: Meet the Indian teenager who is seen as a god by villagers because of his hairy appearance

Mohammed Raihan is only 13 but his hirsute appearance belies his tender age. He suffers from Werewolf Syndrome, a rare genetic condition which causes his hands, legs, back and stomach to be covered in hair. He has however refused medical treatment because he believes it is a blessing from God despite the fact he gets a lot of name-calling from peers, they call him Hanuman after a Hindu monkey God.

Muhammed said:

"I am not bothered with such attention - some people laugh at me, others just come to me for a blessing. Sometime people would flock to my house from far-off villages to just have a glimpse of me. They think I am a god or have special powers, but this attention is okay because I know I look different."

The devout Muslim lost his dad ten months ago and lives with his mum and four siblings on the Island of Borneo. His mum Pardan, 45 said:

"He had more hair on his body than my elder son but I was not worried as every child is different. However my concern grew when the hair grew longer and thicker. His father and I were worried about the excessive hair growth and took him to several doctors but none could treat him. Some did offer laser surgery but it was beyond our financial capacity so we stopped."

 Pardan has instead instilled confidence and faith in God in Muhammed.
 She says:

"He is a gift of God and we believe his appearance is the will of Allah. I have taught him to never complain about his condition but instead accept it with grace. And for Muhammed, who shares a room with his unaffected siblings, he feels blessed to have a distinct appearance and wishes to serve as a mosque cleric in thanks. I am blessed by God and this makes me happy. I am his favourite child and want to serve him my whole life. I don't want any medical treatment because I'm happy this way."

Woman burns down her apartment after learning that her boyfriend was gay

A New Jersey woman named Lakishette Williams accidentally set fire to her apartment after she found out her boyfriend was gay and was cheating on her with other men. She told police she accidentally set her apartment ablaze while burning love letters from the man.

This happened in December and she was immediately arrested for arson after police found out she started fires in two rooms, but she claims it was a mistake. The 25-year-old mother-of-two said she was “distraught” after she found out her boyfriend's 'friends' were actually his sexual partners and she'd left them in her home on several occasions.
She appeared in court last week for a bail reconsideration hearing where a judge reduced her bail from $50,000 to $35,000

“She was devastated. She didn’t intentionally set the fires; she was just burning love letters from her boyfriend." said her attorney Caroline Davis.
