MURDER: Secular activist who was critical of radical Islamists hacked to death in Bangladesh

28 year old Bangladeshi law student and outspoken atheist Nazimuddin Samad was brutally killed in Dhaka on Wednesday, April 6 by attackers wielding machetes, the latest in a series of attacks on secular bloggers and activists in the Muslim majority country.

Syed Nurul Islam, deputy commissioner of Dhaka Metropolitan Police to AFP said :

"They hacked his head with a machete. As he fell down, one of them shot him in the head with a pistol from close range. He died on the spot,"

The master’s student of the state-run Jagannath University’s Law Department, who was critical of radical Islamists was killed by suspected Islamist militants in Old Dhaka’s Sutrapur area.

He was attacked by three assailants while walking to his home in Gendaria with another youth after completing classes at the university, near Bahadur Shah Park.
While murdering Samad, the killers shouted Allahu Akbar (God is Greatest), witnesses said. The youth accompanying the victim has been missing since the incident, a police official said.

Nazim, who hailed from Sylhet, was the information and research secretary of Sylhet district unit of Bangabandhu Jatiya Jubo Parishad. He was also an activist of Gonojagoron Moncho’s Sylhet wing.

His friends said Nazim used to campaign for secularism on Facebook and was critical of radical Islamists. A day before the murder, he expressed concerns over the country’s law and order in a Facebook post.

The police cordoned off the crime scene. They recovered a bullet shell from the spot.
Nurul Amin, Assistant Commissioner of Sutrapur division, was quoted as saying that the police went to the spot and found the body in a pool of blood.

Nurul said it was clear that the assailants kept an eye on Nazim’s activities for long.
University Proctor Nur Mohammad said Nazim got admitted to the university two months ago.

"We have informed his family about the murder and are taking detailed information about him," he said.

Rapper Azealia Banks obviously missed that it wasn't real and went off on Sarah Palin, saying Sarah Palin should be gang raped by the biggest, burliest black men and have it posted on the internet. Read her tweets...

Palin responded to Banks on Tuesday, saying she was 'not exercising enough intelligence' and later added; 'Why don't we strengthen both our platforms and work together on something worthwhile.'

She then wrote that 'condemning racism' was one of the things that the women could work on before editing it to in the post.

Palin also announced that she plans on suing Banks over the comments she made on Twitter.

She said:

'So, for the first time I'm going to enjoy the only retribution some protected "celebrities" seem to understand – I'm suing Azealia Banks and can't wait to share my winnings with others who have gone defenseless against lies and dangerous attacks far too long.'

'Azealia engages in a form of racism and hate that is celebrated by some in the perverted arm of pop culture, but is condemned by those who know it's tearing our country apart.

'Others may keep turning a blind eye to problems like Azealia's mouth; I choose to take a stand against it and the double standards that result in her actually being rewarded for her divisive tactics and aggressively inciting violence.'

Then when she realized her mistake she sent an apology letter to Sarah Palin online.

'Now since learning that the article was not published officially, I sincerely apologize for any emotional distress or reputational scarring i may have caused you.

'In my honest defense, i was completely kidding. I happen to have a really crass, New-York-City sense of humor, and regularly make silly jokes in attempts make light of situations which make me uncomfortable.

'As the fabric of the American Nation is EMBEDDED with racism, I merely made a raCIALly driven joke to counter what i believed to be real, raCIST rhetoric.'

She said later in her letter; 'I cherish my ability to express myself freely, yet remain totally aware that for every action, there will be a reaction.

'All in All, Woman to Woman, I hope you will accept my sincerest apology.'

Banks then included multiple PS additions to the letter, writing in one; '“Hey Female Rapper,” was your way to euphemize what you REALLY wanted to say. What you wanted to say was, “Hey little Stereotypical Black, Thing!”'

In another she said; 'Twitter is not real, neither is your opinion of me!'

And in her final line, she quoted the Peaches song 'F*** the Pain Away,' writing; 'If Bristol Palin listened to my music she probably wouldn’t have all those cotdamn kids!!!! ;-P #sis #iud #stayinschool #causeitsthebest'

Banks is constantly in the news for fights with different people. 2 weeks ago, she attacked the paparazzi who were taking her picture outside Manhattan Criminal Court.

Banks was appearing in court following an incident that happened in December where she is alleged to have punched and then bitten a female bouncer at a Manhattan club.

She was also accused of assaulting a bouncer at the Break Room 86 club in Los Angeles in October.

Banks has also been in various Twitter fights, with Iggy Azalea, Eminem and Nicki Minaj.

Last month she tweeted to Iggy Azalea:

'Mentioning me is the only thing that will get you attention. Because ur music and nose job are trash.'

Twins looking for long lost mum discover she was murdered just two days earlier

Twin brothers, 19 year old Curtis and Lewis Nickle who had been desperately looking for their long lost mother, 42 year old Maxine Showers, online and everywhere else were horrified when they discovered that she had been savagely murdered just two days earlier.
Showers who was a sex worker had been killed and dumped in an alleyway by her 29 year old client Michael Williams.

According to the Liverpool Echo , Curtis, 19, told the court:

“How could we be so close and have it all cruelly taken away?

“If only we could have the chance to tell her we love her and have never blamed her for us being adopted.

Turning to face his mum's killer in the dock, he continued:

“You have taken away from this world a beautiful, wonderful person.

“No amount of apologising will ever bring our mum back. So your remorse, if you have any, is not accepted.”

Showers who was a mother of 8 children had given the twins up for adoption when she couldn't fend for them anymore.

The twins said their adoptive mum Angie gave them her name, but when they went on the internet on September 30th last year, to look for her, they read reports of her tragic death two days earlier.

Williams claimed that after he had sex with Showers, she tried to steal from him. He said he didnt not murder the Liverpool mum but admitted to manslaughter. Her body was discovered in an alleyway behind Williams’ home in Hinton Street on the morning of Monday, September 28 last year.

Prosecutors said Williams killed her in a “vicious assault.
Judge David Aubrey, QC, on Minday said there was no truth to this suggestion and said it was a “brutal, savage and sustained” cocaine and alcohol-fuelled attack.
The judge said:

“A void and emptiness is felt by so many as they seek to come to terms with their grief.

“It was a tragedy that two 19-year-olds were seeking to ascertain the whereabouts of their natural mother, having been adopted at a very young age.

“They wished to contact their real mother they had never known. They are never to know her in consequence of what you did.

Williams was jailed yesterday to life in prison with a minimum of 22 years behind bars, after jurors found him guilty.

The Prime Minister of Iceland, Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson, has resigned, becoming the first high profile casualty of the Panama Papers scandal.
After the news broke, Sigmundur David Gunnlaugsson who was granting an interview to a journalist stormed out of the interview over the weekend , amid claims he used secret offshore firm Mossack Fonseca to hide millions of dollars as Iceland's economy collapsed.
Monday night, about 24,000 people gathered outside the parliament building demanding his resignation.

Mr Gunnlaugsson has resigned as Prime Minister, but says he will stay on as leader of the Progressive Party.

FRAUD: 11 PEOPLE ARRESTED IN VIETNAM OVER $1.3 MILLION SCAM

3 Nigerian men and eight locals belonging to two different gangs have been arrested by Vietnamese police for allegedly conning people out of more than US$1.3 million.

The gangs tricked the victims by informing them they had won grand prizes or gift packages from abroad but had to pay some money as fees for collecting the prize or bribing police and customs officers since the gifts were of big value. They used bank accounts created with stolen or fake ID cards to collect the money.

Ho Chi Minh City police arrested Michael IkeChukwu Leonard, 44, on Tuesday with three Vietnamese accomplices for cheating more than 100 victims around the country out of more than VND20 billion ($900,000) over more than a year.

Earlier this month they had arrested Ihugba Augustine Chinonso, 30, Onu Chinonso Peter, 31, and five Vietnamese for tricking many victims into paying VND10 billion since late last year.

One victim from the central city of Da Nang said she had lost more than VND2.1billion. She had been promised a gift package that contained more than a million dollars from a family friend overseas.

A man from Hanoi, who works for a domestic airline, borrowed money to pay nearly VND3.5 billion to receive a prize worth $1 million from a UK company. He said he got a lot of emails, all in English, and he was trusting because it had all "seemed very professional."

The members of the latter gang said they had received instructions from two other Nigerian men, who are still at large.

FOOTBALL: MATCH-FIXING: New Chelsea coach Antonio Conte faces prison sentence for Match fixing allegations

An Italian court on Tuesday called for incoming new Chelsea manager, Antonio Conte, to receive a six-month suspended prison sentence over match-fixing allegations during his time in Italy. The Italian, who was confirmed as Chelsea's new coach on Monday has been accused of sporting fraud during his time as manager of Siena, in Serie B in May 2011.

Siena gained promotion to Serie A that season, with that success earning Conte the job at Juventus, the club he graced as a player for 13 years. In 2012, when he was in charge of Juventus, Conte was hit with a 10-month ban by the Italian football federation over the affair, reduced to four months on appeal.

According to Conte's lawyer, an Italian prosecutor wants incoming Chelsea boss Antonio Conte to get a six-month suspended prison sentence and fine over his alleged role in match fixing. Prosecutor Roberto di Martino has cited a match against Albino Leffe, claiming Conte knew of match-fixing efforts.

He requested the sentence and 8,000 euro fine in a closed-doors hearing in Cremona on Tuesday. Conte's lawyer, Leonardo Cammarata, said the defence is due to make its final statement to the court on 11 April and a verdict is due in mid-May.

FOOTBALL: Yaya Toure will leave Manchester City in June, says his agent

Manchester City's midfield powerhouse Yaya Toure will leave the club at the end of the season having not been offered a new contract, his agent said on Monday.

The 32-year-old Ivory Coast international, who was the African Footballer of the Year four times in a row from 2011, joined Premier League City from Barcelona for £24 million ($34.23 million) in July 2010.

Six years ago Toure was sold by Barca boss Pep Guardiola, who will replace Manuel Pellegrini as City's coach when the Spaniard leaves Bayern Munich at the end of this season.

"We have waited too long. Manchester City promised a deal but nothing has materialised so Yaya will leave in June," his agent Dimitri Seluk told Sky Sports television.

"Yaya is disappointed, of course, but he is a professional and he remains under contract so he will continue to do his best for City."

Toure has been linked by the media with a move to Inter Milan who are coached by former City boss Roberto Mancini.

"Various offers have arrived for Yaya and we're evaluating them," Seluk said. "Inter? We're definitely talking about a great club. Everyone knows about the relationship between Yaya and Mancini but... we haven't made any decision yet. The Nerazzurri's project is great and Inter is a fantastic club so it's normal that they want a player of this level."

Toure won the Premier League with City in 2012 and 2014, the FA Cup in 2011 and the League Cup in 2014 and 2016.
