WAR AGAINST TERROR: MI5 tracking more than 50 jihadis plotting deadly terror attacks across Britain

More than 50 jihadis are suspected of being involved in planning attacks across Britain, and are among a reported 450 extremists living in the UK.
MI5 and counter terror cops believe "sleeper cells" could be waiting on orders to unleash mass killings on our streets.
A former British intelligence officer told the Mirror: “Everyone in the counter-terrorism community believes an attack in Britain will take place.
“For some time now it has been a case of not ‘if’ but ‘when’ and the pace of investigations to try and stop this happening is extremely dynamic and fast-moving.

“There is no respite and no sign of the threat to Britain going away.
“The shocking thing about what happened in Paris and the ongoing situation in Brussels is their ability.
“They have shown a high degree of organisation – more than was previously suspected – a strong logistical chain, the ability to get the material needed, guns, explosives, planning.”
Security services monitor the roughly 450 suspects so that they are always aware of their general movements even when they can't watch them 24 hours a day.
But close to 50 of them under even more intense scrutiny by MI5 and police teams.

WAR AGAINST TERROR: Syrian troops take back ancient city of Palmyra from ISIS

The government forces backed by Russian air strikes drove out Daesh fighters, who have

held the town since May last year.

It marks a strategic victory for the government as it puts them in a better place for a future

advance on Raqqa, Daesh’s ‘capital’.

Opposition monitoring group Syrian Observatory Human Rights confirmed that Daesh had

lost the town and said more than 400 Daesh fighters were killed in the three-week battle.

Last May, Daesh forced out government forces from Palmyra and demolished some of the

best-known monuments in the Unesco world heritage site.

Extremists see monuments as a promotion of idolatry which is forbidden in Islam.

Addressing Daesh, Maamoun Abdulkarim, director of the government’s museums and

antiquities department in Damascus, said: ‘We will rebuild what you have destroyed.’

injured are women and children.’

Local police chief Haider Ashraf said the park was manned by police guards and private

He said: ‘We are in a warlike situation and there is always a general threat but no specific

threat alert was received for this place.’

Eyewitnesses said they saw body parts strewn across the parking lot once the dust had

Fears of ISIS chemical attack on England fans at Euro 2016 as security tested in terror simulation

The Three Lions play their opening group game on June 11 against Russia in Marseille, a city with a big North African population.
A French security source said: “It is a high-risk match for numerous reasons. Politically both countries have a bombing campaign against IS and the game is in a city with many North Africans. There have been several arrests linked to ongoing terror investigations and a chemical attack is a possibility.”
Organisers have said they may play matches behind closed doors.
But the main headache is the fan zones, where spectators watch games on big screens in the tournament’s ten host cities.

A police source said: “That will be the hard job.”
French security services created a replica of the Marseille fan zone at a police academy in Nîmes.
Several loud noises simulating bombs went off and police in riot gear rushed in. Other units were seen in bright green biological and chemical warfare suits.

BOXING: THE DANGERS INVOLVED: Nick Blackwell rushed to hospital after brutal defeat by Chris Eubank Jr

The pair clashed for Blackwell’s British middleweight title at Wembley Arena and Eubank forced a 10th-round stoppage after a vicious performance.
And after the result was read out, Blackwell — just 25 — collapsed in the ring and was given oxygen by the ringside medics who ran to help him.
More frantic doctors rushed in and assembled a stretcher as Blackwell was put in the recovery position.
Across the ring, Eubank muted his celebration as he became aware of the desperate situation in the opposite corner.

The defeated former champion was then rushed out of the now-silent arena on a stretcher and sent straight to hospital with fears mounting over his welfare.
Eubank’s famous father, Chris Senior, was the opponent when Michael Watson suffered life-changing injuries at White Hart Lane in their WBO middleweight title rematch in 1991.
Watson’s injuries were caused by an 11th-round Eubank Senior uppercut and changed how British boxing is served by ringside medical assistance forever.
And every ounce of help was needed here at Wembley after the prolonged and vicious nature of Eubank’s performance.
