Confirming the report, Torpedo Moscow president Elena Yelentseva announced that Botaka will not play for the team after fans publicly denounced the signing of a black player.

One of the protesting fans wrote on Vkontakte - a Russian social website:
"Since you consider it acceptable to come into our home and our family without regard for our rules and traditions, we reserve that same right. We will see who comes out on top."
"Black may be one of our club’s colours, but we only want whites in our ranks," another hating fan wrote.
Protesting fans also sited the fact he played for rival club and Russian League 2018 Champions, Lokomotiv Moscow as additional reason he won't be allowed at the club.

Similarly, in 2012 fans of Zenit St. Petersburg openly protested the signing of Belgium international Axel Witsel and Brazil international Hulk calling for black players to be excluded from the team.
